Red Dinner 2010

Posted by PicasaMark and I began a tradition in our family many years ago to have a Red Dinner on Valentine's Day, where all the menu items are red. It was just too complicated to go on a date on Valentine's Day, so we began doing this to make it a special night for our family. Over the years it has grown. We began using our china for the main event, but since then Mom bought us some red dishes. We now have special candles just for Red Dinner, and usually flowers. Each year the menu varies a little. This year we had steak (red meat), roasted red potatoes, red jell-o, strawberries with cream, and cranberry/pomegranite juice. This year's Red Dinner was not as fancy as years past, as we had to have it early because I was going out of town. Normally, Mark brings home roses and each girls gets a rose, and I get a dozen. Then the girls spread red rose petals down the table. This year wasn't as fancy as most, but we all still had a wonderful meal:-) Long live Red Dinners!

A Dress Form for Anna

Posted by PicasaAs you can tell, when there are multiple snow days, the Savoldi's get bored. And when we get bored, we find cheap entertainment! Anna and I started talking about prom dress ideas and she got the idea that she needed a dress form to design her own dress. That led to searched for dress forms, only to discover how expensive they are, which led us to a You Tube video of how to make your own, which led us to Walmart to pick up some Duck Tape. As you can see, I taped Anna up over clothes she never wanted to wear again. Then we cut the dress off of her, stuffed it, and put it on a stick. And, voila! We had a perfect dress form of Anna! (See the finished product below:-) It worked out so well that Bekah wanted one of her own-- and then one of the kids Anna babysits wanted one too. So funny! I hope to be posting beautiful pictures of a prom dress in the upcoming months!

Our Story

It all began on a New Year's Eve a long time ago... A very handsome young man picked up a innocent young woman from the Chicago airport that needed a ride back to Purdue. They quickly fell in love and all these years later here we are.
In an attempt to keep our family and friends better updated on the happenings in our lives, we are officially Bloggers! We hope you enjoy looking around, seeing our happenings, and celebrating, laughing, or crying with us. Sometimes we laugh and cry at the same time! Our family is crazy, lots of fun, and totally unpredictable. We are very blessed, and love each other so much. Come. Enjoy. Welcome to the Savoldi Salmagundi:-)
