Red Dinner 2010
Mark and I began a tradition in our family many years ago to have a Red Dinner on Valentine's Day, where all the menu items are red. It was just too complicated to go on a date on Valentine's Day, so we began doing this to make it a special night for our family. Over the years it has grown. We began using our china for the main event, but since then Mom bought us some red dishes. We now have special candles just for Red Dinner, and usually flowers. Each year the menu varies a little. This year we had steak (red meat), roasted red potatoes, red jell-o, strawberries with cream, and cranberry/pomegranite juice. This year's Red Dinner was not as fancy as years past, as we had to have it early because I was going out of town. Normally, Mark brings home roses and each girls gets a rose, and I get a dozen. Then the girls spread red rose petals down the table. This year wasn't as fancy as most, but we all still had a wonderful meal:-) Long live Red Dinners!
